Dear Owners and Skippers,
HAPPY EASTER from the Baltic Sprint Cup Organizing Team!
This year we look forward to welcoming you with some members well known to the 2005 fleet, and some new. Sven Herlyn, founder of the Baltic Sprint Cup and CEO of our Danish ports sponsor, Bank DnB NORD headquartered in Copenhagen is Chairman of our Baltic Sprint Cup Committee and greatly looks forward to meeting you. The team is:
A warm welcome in the team of Bank DnB NORD to Jolita Kraniauskaite. We all know her perfect last year's organization of the party of the city of Klaipeda and we are looking forward to see her new created CI style Bank DnB NORD and two wonderful stops at Aarhus and Copenhagen [directly in front of the bank] .
As a sailor, I realise that most of you will use the Easter holidays to prepare your yacht for launching in the new sailing season and I wish you good luck with this and of course, for the Baltic Sprint Cup 2006.
Official entries exceed 20, with a good number more in contact . As last year, the countdown runs at top speed. The 31st May, in scarcely 50 days, is the registration deadline. Anyone who has not sent in his application by then will miss all the racing, the parties, the friendship - and the fun!

As you probably know, we had from the American firm 1bigthink on friendly terms – more or less as a European test event – the use of a race management program called Regatta manager based on the internet. It has been a great success in the USA but unfortunately the European version (including an option for German text)is so late that we will continue this year using our own web site instead. For access, go to www.BALTIC-SPRINT-CUP.com and select "Organizers Site" [as the public site is not under my control, I can't promise that the link will routed correctly through the easterdays to the new organizers site which is www.BalticSprintCup.SAIL-and-RACE.com - just try]. Here you will find all race documents for download including forms for completion and return by ordinary post. Any new documents will be available here, including a Special Regulations checklist which may help you with some of the more significant items and as well a sample for an EPRIB which one you may hire just for the race [both will come up in a few days].
Those who already registered via Regatta Manager will shortly have their data returned for checking: we believe details have come through correctly but prefer to be certain and thank you for your assistance with this.
To remind you, the following is required from each boat:
- Appendix 1 - Entry Application Form
- ORC Club certificate [or IMS-cerificate which includes the ORC-Club GPH - see more info below]
- Crew List Form [Appendix 2] plus Statements from Crew Members and Person in Charge - exclusion of liability [Appendix 3]
- Payment of Entry Fees.
Entry Fees comprise basic fees plus crew fees [see Notice of Race 8]. An easy way of calcultion is included in the Excel spreadsheet of the entry application form [also available in a separated Excel spreadsheet "Entry & Crew Fee Calculator"] which may be downloaded from the web site. Based on last year's experience we would particularly point out that party tickets can only be bought in advance. We regret that the credit card payment system is not now available and those who registered via this method will receive an invoice in the normal way which we kindly ask to be paid by 20th June at the latest.
An IMS certificate automatically includes an ORC Club handicap ["GPH"]. Alternatively, an ORC Club handicap can be obtained separately. For the Baltic Sprint Cup we need a copy of either the IMS certificate or the ORC Club certificate. If you have not received your 2006 certificate by 30th April please contact your national rating authority [in Germany the DSV on +49-40-632 009-0] urgently. If you need help in locating the appropriate authority please ask. If you are waiting for your 2006 certificate please inform us of the 2005 figure pro tem. All handicap data will normally be checked by us direct with national rating authorities during the check-in period at Stavanger.
Please also complete and return the crew lists as early as possible. These lists were important for dealing with the authorities in 2005. Whilst signatures are needed on a crew list these may be added during check-in at Stavanger – we would prefer to receive the lists early!
If you have any further questions, please telephone or email: "we are at your service".
Again, HAPPY EASTER!
