Yacht History: Scho-Ka-Kola is a fast cruiser-racer which was launched as Speedy Gecko in 2002. Being designed by Reichel/Pugh from San Diego she has been built in Australia in the well known boat yard McConaghy. Reichel/Pugh are a very successful design team as their new 100ft maxis Wild Oats and Alfa-Romeo demonstrate. But also in 2002 when they draw the lines of Scho-Ka-Kola their supermaxis Alfa Romeo/Shockwave and the fast cruiser racer Leopard of London were state of the art performance yachts. Since changing ownership in late 2005 Scho-Ka-Kola has been refitted substantially allowing her crew to race her across the Atlantic twice in 2006 (ARC) and 2007 (HSH Blue Race).

Skipper's experience: The team successfully participated in the first edition of Baltic Sprint Cup in 2005 with their former Luffe 48 called Josephine. They finished 5th in their devision and 10th overall. The 2006 season will be mainly practice and preparation for the team's big challenge in 2007: racing in the HSH Blue Race from Newport to Hamburg. The Baltic Sprint Cup 2006 offers them good racing on medium distance courses and a wonderful social environment.

Skipper's experience: Since I was born, I was sailing with my parents until I was 18 years old and thereafter I started my racing experience on the following boats: 1 year H-Boat - 2 years Pirat - for 11 years (until 2005) I was the Skipper of a J24 women´s team. We were participating regularly on national and international Regattas, e.g. Keel Week, German Open, European Championships, 2x Worldchampionships (2x prize for the `Best Women´s Team´). Last year, our J24 Crew started to gain experience aboard bigger boats in order to prepare ourselves for the HSH Nordbank Blue Race 2007 (North Transatlantic Race).
